Today's learnings :

The Agenda for today covered these topics:

1. Business Communication in Consulting : includes Communication(80%), Research(5%) and Relationship (15%). Against Common Perception, Research is just 5% of what the consultants do.

As one grows in an organization, Relationship increases, initially it's about communicating your views to the client. The three pillars that helps to facilitate this are Powerpoint, Word and Excel.

2. Structuring your content - Pyramid Principle : Things to structure before making a content  are :

  • Define the Objective of the document
  • Structure it according to your audience
  •  The context in which the content would be consumed
  • Cover all the aspects.

One thing to be considered while making sure if all the contents are covered in MECE (Mutually Exclusive Collectively Exhaustible) approach. It's important  to avoid redundancies and repetition, at the same time making sure all points were covered.

3. Creating Impacts : Tips and Tricks : Making an impact using your presentation is less about content and more about how you present the content. For higher impact begin with
  • A startling statistic or image
  • A quotation from someone famous relevant to your presentation
  • A video to grab attention
  • A question
  • An activity

4. Creating a Personal Brand : A personal brand allows a person to self-manage their life without having dependent on others. It gives you an unique identity.

  • Excel in your career - whether corporate or enterpreneurial, a personal brand does wonders!
  • A personal brand means that more people know you than people you know
  • It builds credibility as though leader and expert in area of speciality.
  • It makes people comfortable while working with you.
